Wow! How did my baby become nine weeks old already??? And how am I already back to work?

I went back to work for the first time this past week ... and it was a sad and happy moment at the same time. Dropping my baby off at daycare was tough...as I walked out the door, I heard her crying. It tore a hole through my heart. I immediately recognized her cry. Before having Ansley, I thought that all babies cries were the same. No. That was MY baby crying in there. It was soo hard to walk out the door.

During my 40 minute commute on the never ending construction of I-70, it was a little ... peaceful. I actually quite enjoyed it. I felt like a bad mother for enjoying it. When I got to work, since I had caught up on all my emails during leave (I know...you are shaking your head), it was kind of a nice little vacation. Then, I IM'ed Brandi to get reassurance that I was not a bad mother. She said it was normal. Throughout the day, I started enjoying it a little bit more. Then at noon - I immediately called the daycare to see how it was going with Ansley. 🙂

When I got home, my husband (who is dutied to pick her up) - wasn't home yet...so I was freaking out. When he got in the door, I immediately went to her - and he was like, "Where's my kiss?" 🙂

Anyway - here's my DIY tutorial. How to make a lampshade - doesn't have to even be specific to a nursery. I chaanged my mind on the fabric, so that's why you see two fabric swatches.

    1. This is an old lamp I bought from Wal-Mart two years ago. I wanted to spice it up a little bit to match the bedding in Ansley's room.

    2. Here's the material you will need. Not pictured here: scissors, iron, and ruler.

3A. All you do is lay the ironed fabric out wrong side up. Then, take your lampshade and roll it against the fabric all the while marking it at the edges.

3B. Then, you take the marked fabric - and you add an inch to where it was marked. Cut along that line.

3C. Then glue it to the lamp shade - making sure you smooth it out.

    4. At the edge, i ironed it so that it would be a seam.

    That's it!
