Easy wonton soup recipe - who says that you can't enjoy soups outside of winter? Here's a recipe on how to make wonton soup with super easy directions.
As a mom of four, I find that soups are super easy to make and can be enjoyed year round with no fuss! One soup that I LOVE year round that is simple and delicious is wonton soup. This easy wonton soup recipe is based off of my mom's tried and true recipe. Nothing too crazy. Just simple and delicious.

Kitchen Utensils Needed to Make your Easy Wonton Soup Recipe
Ingredients for your Easy Wonton Soup Recipe
Wontons
1 package of wonton wrappers (of 48 wrappers)
1 pound of ground pork
2 shallots minced
2 green onions minced
1 egg
1 tablespoon of fish sauce
1 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of Swanson Chicken Broth
Broth
3 boxes of Swanson Chicken Broth
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1 green onion sliced
3 slices of ginger
Directions to Make your Easy Wonton Soup Recipe

First, cut up some shallots.

Put it in with the ground pork in a large bowl for mixing.

Next up are the minced green onions.
Put it into a bowl with a pound of ground pork.


Add an egg for binding.

Add in the rest of the ingredients: black pepper, fish sauce, and salt.

Mix it with your hands.

Next, get ready to wrap. For binding the wonton wrappers, pour a 1/4 cup of chicken broth.

Now, spoon in some of the ground pork mixture onto a wrapper.

Then, dip your hand into the broth and wet the top of the wonton. Just like this:
Fold in half, and in half again and press it together to bind the wonton ends.

Now, batch process it 🙂

Here, I'm getting my steamer ready to steam the wontons.

And I'm also starting the soup base in another pot.

For the soup base, I've sliced some green onions and ginger.

To flavor the broth, I placed it in there.

Going back to the steamer, steam the wontons for 10 minutes. Set aside until the broth is ready. Note: We steam it instead of putting it directly in the broth so it doesn't get soggy and mushy.
Once you are ready to serve, place the steamed wontons in the boiling soup base for 5 minutes. Ladle into a bowl with a sprinkling of fresh ground pepper. Serve!
Simple and Easy Wonton Soup Recipe

A delicious and easy wonton soup recipe that everyone will be sure to love (and it doesn't turn out mushy)!
Ingredients
Wontons
- 1 package wonton soup
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 shallots, minced
- 1 bunch green onion minced
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
Broth
- 3 boxes chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 bunch green onion sliced
- 3 slices ginger
Instructions
- Mix the shallots, green onion, ground pork, egg, fish sauce, ground pepper, and salt together with your hands. Ensure that it is thoroughly mixed.
- Place a small heaping onto a wonton wrapper. Dip your finger in the 1/4 cup of Swanson Chicken Broth. Brush the top edge of the wonton.
- Fold the wonton in half. Then in half again and take the opposite ends and press together.
- Start your steamer. Steam the wontons for 10 minutes.
- Heat the chicken stock, seasame oil, and salt to a boil. When ready to serve, put the wontons in the stock for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.

If I want to freeze some of the wontons. Do I steam them before freezing or just before adding to the soup?

You can, but they will get super soggy!
