The smell of Kansas City during the summertime is amazing. At any given moment, you could walk outside and smell someone grilling that savory steak or smoking brisket.
As a Kansas City native, you could say that I know my barbecue. In this little town, we've got an amazing variety of delicious BBQ options to choose from. As the mecca of BBQ, we've got some crazy weekend warrior BBQ competition teams that vie for the title of having THE best BBQ sauce recipe. Most of these competition teams have perfected their recipes over the course of several years.
As for me, I'm not one of those! Not only do I not have the patience to perfect ANY recipe with our busy schedules, I've been looking for a good base recipe that I can use WHEN I have the time to experiment. Not only that, I've been looking for a BBQ sauce recipe that is quick and easy to change up.
On my usual stop to Sam's Club, I found the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub which allows you to experiment with the recipe.
Some like their BBQ a little sweet, some like it a little bitter (not me!) and others love a heavier ketchup based recipe. With the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub, you can use Simply Lemonade® and Coca-Cola® to liven up the recipe to match your side dishes.
Today, I'm going to be showing you how to create an amazing pressure cooker pulled pork sandwich without the need for a grill OR a smoker. Yep. And it will be just as good as any other Kansas City BBQ sauce.
First, get some pork loin and place it in your pressure cooker.
Pour in a package of the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub.
Add a 1/4 cup of Simply Lemonade, 1/2 cup of Coca Cola and 2 cups of water into the pressure cooker.
Put the pressure cooker on manual pressure for 40 minutes.
Once its done cooking, get out your mixing stand! Here's the secret to all of this: Use your mixing stand to shred your pork! As its shredding the pulled pork, add juices from the pressure cooker to moisten.
Next, toast some sesame seed buns. Spread a layer of mayo if you so desire with a slice of provolone. Lastly, add some KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce on top!
It is absolutely delicious!
