Our powder room has gotten Ryan and I in some heated arguments! Through my hair dresser, I found out about a website called houzz.com. If you are looking for home decor ideas, look no further than houzz.com. However, I would be very careful in choosing paint color off the cuff because of how the image looks! I definitely made that mistake.
Here's the only before image that I have of our powder room (aka guest bathroom) when we moved in. It was flat red paint. Horrid. Not only because I really do not think that red belongs in a bathroom (that's just me), but the flat paint showed the water dripping from the previous owner's hands when they flipped the light switch. Icky.
So, I went on houzz.com and got some ideas. I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone. And I had Ryan screaming "blue" in my ear. So I saw this blue powder room and I THOUGHT I would like it. It would be bold and definitely make a statement. I wasn't settled on it though.
Then Ryan called me one day after work and said he was in a painting mood. Since he won't let me paint (he thinks I'm a bull in a china cabinet), and it takes him forever to do anything, I HAD to take him up on the offer. It also meant that I had to decide on a color THAT NIGHT. Ergo, this blue. And after he did the first coat, I hated it.
I felt bad, but I told him we had to change it. He told me he loved it and said that I'd have to wait two years before he would even think about repainting it. I couldn't even handle it for two days, so I repainted it to his dismay.
I decided to have repaint it in a more neutral color with a stencil pattern. Doesn't this look more awesome?!
I'm in love with how the walls turned out! Do you like the wall art?!
I also wanted to share with you what I had previously. I ordered two 8 x 10 pieces of art for these same frames. I knew I wanted a brown/beige tone for the wall art. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for and I stumbled on these. I hated them, but then didn't really know what I wanted to replace them with at the time. It says "Enjoy the little things" and "Do what you love".
But I'm so thankful for my Ballard Design catalog. My DIY is definitely a much better fit.
