Although my baby just turned one, I'm having baby fever! It seems like everyone is having babies around me. Which means it's baby shower party time!
For new moms out there, the baby registry can be fun, but also daunting. As a mom of three, my advice to you is to get practical! With the addition of each of my kids, I truly understood what it meant to have the essentials and also being prepared for anything!
With my first child, I had these preconceived ideas on what I would or would not do. When baby came, all of my rules that I had outlined were thrown out the window. Feeding time was one of those. With all three of my children, feeding time was completely different for all of them. By baby number one, she did not like nursing. Baby number two loved both. Baby number three loved nursing. By baby number three, I had already prepared for either scenario - it only took three tries!
Since I'm going to be an Auntie the second time around, I've come up with a fun baby shower gift idea that incorporates practical ideas for a new mom. You've heard of diaper cakes for baby showers right? I've spun that idea by using Playtex Baby™ Nurser® Drop-Ins® Liners to make a baby bottle cake!
I used Playtex Nurser with Drop-Ins Liners because they are closer to natural breastfeeding by simulating the same suck, swallow and breathing patterns as breastfeeding. Which means the new mom can easily switch between breast and bottle feeding because it is clinically proven to allow for a more natural feeding rhythm and promotes easy switching between breast and bottle feeding. The best part is that as baby feeds, the soft disposable liner inside the bottle gently collapses (like the breast does naturally when breastfeeding) to prevent air from mixing with the milk and getting into baby’s tummy. This air-free feeding helps to reduce colic!
I found these at Target, which is the one stop shop for all your baby registry needs! There is a Target Cartwheel offering going on 8/21 - 9/3, so make sure you pick them up!
Okay, now for the tutorial:
Supplies for Baby Bottle Cake
baby bottles (like the Playtex Baby Nurser Drop-Ins Liners)
ribbon
cake stand or home decor plant stand
crinkle cut party fill
congratulations tag
tape
scissors
cake topper
Directions for Baby Bottle Cake
1. Gather all of the bottles onto the cake stand or home decor plant stand.
You want to make sure they all fit in the platform.
2. Use your ribbon and put it around all of the bottles. Use tape or any other adhesive to connect the ends.
3. Next, add the crinkle cut filler to the top of the bottles.
They will lay right on top!
4. Add the cake topper. I found these at a local craft store really inexpensively.
5. Add your tag to the front. That's it. Isn't it super cute?!
Your friend will thank you and the practicality (which will be after baby is born)!
