Porphyry Pink by Farrow and Ball is a beautiful pink paint color that is classic and sophisticated. I'll be talking about some of the reasons why I love it so much and what it looks like in a REAL house!
With my girls, I knew that I would be like most parents and choose a feminine pink color for their space.
While I love blush pink as a color, I wanted a paint for my little girl's nursery that would be sophisticated, elegant, romantic, and classic.
Choosing a pink wall color was originally a very hard choice for me. While I knew that I whatever pink paint color I chose would eventually need to be painted over if we ever decided to paint the house, I really wanted the paint to stand the test of time.
I ended up doing a lot of research online for the best pink paint color. I ended up choosing Porphyry Pink by Farrow & Ball (Number 49). They describe it as a deep, muted rose.
They have archived it as part of their paint collection, BUT Home Depot still has the color in their system, so they can definitely mix it for you!
I've written all about our pink and gold nursery that you can check out.

Why is Porphyry Pink A Good Pink Wall Color
It is a interior designer favorite because of it's muted tone. It looks gorgeous with gold, grey and dark mahogany tones.
If you want the walls to stand out, and the furniture to be neutral, this is definitely the paint that provides that wow factor!
Who Makes Porphyry Pink
Porphyry Pink is made by Farrow and Ball. It's a popular paint choice by interior designers, but not one for common consumers.
Most consumers looking for a pink paint color are looking for a dark pink or blush pink color.
Porphyry Pink provides a dark, muted pink tone that allows your furnishings to blend.
Is Porphyry Pink Still Available?
I believe that Farrow and Ball has discontinued this paint color, BUT it is available at Home Depot to color match!
Make sure you talk to them and see if they can mix up a can for you to try!
What does it look like in day light and at night?
Porphyry Pink does not look different in various lights, believe or not! I feel like this paint specifically because of how dark it is, it doesn't have varying undertone changes when different lights are exposed to it.
What color is porphyry pink anyway?
Farrow and Ball describes it as a muted rose color. I tend to agree. If I had to put it simply, I would say it sits between salmon and maroon.
What does Porphyry Pink look like with gold and brown tones?
You can check out all my images below because this is how I decorated our room. We have gorgeous gold curtains that I purchased from this store with wood curtain rods.
We got our furniture from the now defunct Babies 'R Us.
I absolutely love how it turned out.
Notice the khaki colored trim that we have. Did you notice that before?
At first, I hated this trim color in our home from the previous home owners. After a few years, the color has grown on me because it goes with mostly every paint color we've paired with it!
Porphyry Pink with Grey, White or Brown Carpet
This paint color transcends all of those carpet colors! Notice how our carpet is a darker shade of beige! I think this paint color still goes well, even with greige carpet!
What undertones does it have?
It honestly is pretty pure and does not have any undertones that I can see.
Is Porphyry Pink timeless?
After having four kids, each of my girls spent some time in this room. I will say that this pink color has transcended over this decade! Porphyry pink is timeless and classic!
I hope you loved my review and will be able to get another paint store to match it even though it's archived. I have been thrilled with how Porphyry Pink has stood the test of time!
