Are you looking for inspiration for a shared bedroom for sisters? In this post, I’m showing you how we decorated our little girls bedrooms (they are 13.5 months apart in age) and how much we fell in love with it!
Now that we are a family of six with only four bedrooms, two of the kids would have to share a room. That meant that our two older girls (who are 14 months apart in age) would share a room.
The youngest of the sisters would move in with the older one. When we announced the change, the girls were actually excited about it. Now that we are 6 weeks in, I’m pretty sure they love it because at night, I can hear them over the baby monitor talking about random stuff. It’s kind of hilarious actually.
You can check out this link to see what the room looked like before. I actually never got to ever officially finishing Ansley’s room. Below is what the room looks like now!
I added two 40 x 40 canvases above in black and white on the striped walls. I kept the paper flowers (tutorial here). They are two of my most favorite pictures of both girls. One is of them hugging and the other is of their ballet recital outfits as belle from Beauty and the Beast!
I wanted the room to command a light lavender, grey and white theme. You can find the paint colors I used on my post on how we painted the stripes on these walls here.

I placed the desk between the two beds so it could serve a double function as a shared nightstand. To this day, I still love the custom ottoman.
On their desk, they have matching custom piggy banks. I also kept the custom lampshade that we made for her room originally.
They have a shared dresser with floral decor on it. I found this letter A (my girls’ names are Ansley and Aubrey) at a Tuesday Morning store. Let me just say that Tuesday Morning has stepped up their game in the last two years!
Obviously I kept the baby monitor and their Teach Me Time Clock (if you don’t have this and you have kids, you are missing out on sleep!).
The girls have been garnering a few trophies as well as participating in scout derby events, so I wanted something inexpensive to use to display their little achievements. I found this at Ikea! Guess what it is – a plate display!

The opposite wall – I’m not really a fan of. I made the husband hammer a bunch of nails in a wall he freshly painted. To tell him that I don’t like it would just make him sad. It is a bunch of empty frames that the girls can lift and place their art on. I’m thinking about redoing this wall by moving this large frame that is in their hallway and repainting it lavendar, putting burlap over cork board, and then they could pin their art to the board.

Final Thoughts on Sisters Sharing a Bedroom
These girls have been sharing a bedroom for over 6 years now. This room is still as glamorous as it looks in these photos! I get a ton of compliments on the bedding as well as the wall of flowers!
