Benjamin Moore’s Simply Irresistible 205 is a gorgeous, soft neutral that works well on walls, ceilings and trim. It goes with every room.
When we moved into our home, I wanted to paint most of the living spaces in the same color and wanted a warm cream color that would lend itself to decorating with farmhouse/cottage style living.
For my own personal preference, I wanted consistency in paint color throughout our mostly open floor plan. The only spaces that I wanted to be different were the rooms so that they add personality!
After searching high and low for various cream to light colored paints, we settled on Benjamin Moore’s Simply Irresistible.
Initially, I really wanted to paint our home in BM White Dove, but the hubby felt it was too sterile.
Important Tip for Choosing a Neutral Cream Paint
If you are going to paint a cream or white on your walls, please for the love of your walls, get some swatches.
Whites and creams tend to have brown, gray or yellow tones depending on the light of the room. While I can show you all the photos from my house, the walls that you paint the cream on may refract light differently, making it more yellow or more stark than what you see!
You need to take in consideration your floors, lighting, exposure and furniture that you already have and will be reusing against the swatch.
Who makes Simply Irresistible Paint 205?
Benjamin Moore makes Simply Irresistible. The specific number is 205.
For me in the midwest, I find that the Benjamin Moore line is so hard to find. Even with the store locator, I find that they are often 50-100 miles away.
What I typically do if I’m in a rush is go to the nearest Home Depot and have them color match Benjamin Moore with their Behr Marquee line.
However, my tip is that the base paint from brand to brand may differ hues if you decides to color match. The best advice is to get the paint color from the brand!
My Favorite Cream Color Paint for Your Home
If you are looking for a warm hue, BM Simply Irresistible might be the paint for you. It’s not too white and not too sterile.

BM Simply Irresistible is definitely not a white, it is a cream. It is a gorgeous neutral that would be perfect for walls, wood trim and ceilings.
It is a beautiful warm cream that allows you to have a completely blank canvas without being stark white.

It has a yellow and creamy base, which makes it an amazing color to pair with browns and greens.
There is a lot of warmth with this paint. It isn’t sterile like some white’s, but is great to pair with white furniture!

White Dove is an amazingly popular white paint, more so than that of Simply Irresistible. I would say that White Dove provides you more of a stark white color, whereas the latter would give you a creamier, yellow tint.

My Overall Review of Benjamin Moore Simply Irresistible

I would say if you are looking for a blank slate without yellow undertones, this would not be the paint for you.
I honestly didn’t think I like it until I saw how amazing it made my furniture look and stand out. It has a tint of yellow and is a creamy white.
I think this is the perfect cream in any home that would go well with most furniture.

If you choose to add more sheen, it will add more reflection in the room allowing the space to appear whiter and brighter. Often, if you are using it in an all white room, you'll want to make sure that the trim is semi-glass with a flt or egg-shell wall.
What are the accent colors in your space?
If you are using accent colors in your space, you'll want to make sure that the paint you choose will compliment the undertones. Often, paint colors have subtle undertones that can be further accented if you choose the right color pairing.
What kind of light do you have in the room?
When deciding on a paint color, especially white colors, you'll want to take note of the different types of lighting throughout the day for the space. This can truly make a huge difference on how your paint color appears. Does it get more daylight? Is it darker during the day? The color of your paint can shift by a lot depending on the time of day.
What undertones does your ceiling have?
When choosing a white or cream paint color, you'll want to make note of your ceiling color. If you choose a white paint color that is too warm or too stark, it could make the room look disconnected.
What color are your furniture and appliances?
If you are using a color like white or black, the paint will be against these competing colors. The paint that you should choose should allow the appliance or furniture to stand on it's own without bringing out other hues.
