Rustic Luxe Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

Updated on Oct 25, 2025 by Seng. This post may contain affiliate links, please see our policy for details.

If you are looking for some inspiration for a rustic luxe, farmhouse style nursery for your little boy, I'm sharing with you my reveal of my little boy's nursery.

It's time for the big nursery reveal! I've been holding off on posting this because its still NOT complete. But, I've come to conclusion that I will ALWAYS feel this way with every room. Every room in my house will always be a "work in progress". Sigh.

I once hired an interior designer who told me, "Wait to find a piece that SPEAKS to you." In my head, I thought, "okay crazy lady."

However, through time, I've learned that the fun of decorating a room is WAITING for the right piece to find YOU. I know that makes ME sound a little cray cray, but I'm trying to convince myself that collecting the pieces I love SHOULD take time (I've been watching a little too much HGTV).

These days, my motto is "don't buy it unless you TRULY love it".

Remember this mood board and post on baby boy's nursery inspiration that I created a few months back? Well, I held true to some of it!

For the wall color, I used Benjamin Moore Gray Owl because I love how neutral this paint really was and how it gives a little hint of a blue tone.

I present to you our baby boy nursery reveal:

The goal of this room was for baby boy to GROW with the room. The Woodland Triptych Wall Art was made by both the hubby and I. The arrow is actually a growth chart, which I will be sharing a DIY soon! If you look closely, you can see the numbers on the arrow.

Ryan and I had a heated "discussion" around decorating the kids rooms. He thinks they are going to want Frozen, Spiderman, and Ninja Turtle themed rooms. I told him the kids are going to love a classic room that they can grow up in. Secretly, I know he's right. But I'm not going to admit it.

Below is the Kallax Shelving Unit from Ikea laid on its side. Isn't it cute? I didn't like any of the baskets that Ikea had, but I found these woven milk crates from Target that fit the look I was going for (I might end up getting two more).

For the nursing chair, I decided to get the Hobart Chair by Best Chair. Its not a typical nursing chair like the one I have in Aubrey's room. In the event that as baby boy grows up and decides he doesn't want the chair in his room, I wanted to have a chair that I could incorporate somewhere else in the house. Also, if this chair didn't work well as a nursing chair, I could just steal the one in Aubrey's room.

And I know, I know. I got white. Again. I don't know what its going to take for me not to buy white furniture with toddlers, but I did get it with stain guard. I'm hoping that I won't ever have to use it.

The mini rocking chair is from My 1st Years which can be customized if you wanted it to be!

This nook still needs something for the wall. I have some ideas in mind, but nothing that I love so far. We also are waiting for a piece of wall art that "speaks to us" for this little nook. As you can see on my baby boy's Pinterest board, I have a few ideas. One of which is a large piece of art. I'm thinking possibly a woodland themed piece, monogram, or even a mirror.

A little story, the hubs has now made himself a miter saw table, and stated in so many words that he plans on making all of our furniture moving forward. Baby boy's room is still in need of a dresser.  At his pace, it will be 2025 until I can showcase that. In all seriousness, it will probably be the later part of next year. Sigh. I'm hoping for a rustic, dark wooden dresser by 2017. We shall see.

I may end up putting some canvases of baby boy above the dresser once he gets it done.

I decided against not having a crib bumper (even though they are cute) per doctor's orders. But don't you love the polka dot crib sheet and wanderlust crib skirt? In love! Totally matches the theme of the room! The rug you see pictured is from RugsUSA and I think it just sets the design for the room! It holds true to the color on their website and is more beautiful in person.

I did want to show you one picture of how we arranged the room before settling for the ones pictured above. The crib was up against the wall:

In the picture above, you'll notice that I have yellow "yarn" around the drapery/curtains. That's because I was training them for about two weeks so that they could hold their form. Floor to ceiling drapery typically will not lay right (especially pleated ones) unless you train them. Otherwise, it will just look messy. Try it out yourself! Anyway, I'm on a tangent.

I like our new arrangement from the before image above because the drapes totally frames the crib and makes the room look a little more formal and together. Last year, I have been sold on spending a little extra money and buying quality hardware for drapes. Good quality drapes need the strength of the rod to hold its weight. In addition to that, they provide a subtle touch of elegance to the room. I love how the drapery hardware provides an understated look to the room!
