Learn how to make milk just easter baskets in this easy tutorial.
One of the projects Ansley’s class requested us to bring in was an Easter basket made out of a milk jug. And yes, I procrastinated.
I purchased a gallon of milk the night before and had to pour it into an empty plastic container. Sad right?
Supplies to Make a Easter Basket Out of a Milk Jug
Empty Milk Jug – The bunny
Pen or Sharpie – For tracing out the cutting section
Felt Letters & Numbers – For the back of the bunny
Pom Poms – For the tail
Googly Eyes – Eyes
Chenille Stems – Whiskers
Soft plastic sheets – Ears
Glue Gun or Spray Adhesive – Note that the glue gun works best
Total Cost: $14.93
Directions:
1. Trace the ears. Make sure you make the ears so that they are perpendicular to the handle of the milk jug.
Your end result from this step should look a little better than this:
2. Make two vertical slits in two inches between the ear flaps for the whiskers. Weave the chenille stems to make the whispers.
3. Using the felt, cut out a triangle with rounded corners for those nose. Hot glue this to hide where you weaved the chenille stems.
4. Hot glue the eyes to the milk jug.
Your end result from this step should look like this:
5. Take the carton and trace the ears onto the plastic sheet for the bottom layer of the ears. Cut that out. Then draft trace on the second plastic sheet the ears, but make it smaller so its the “inside” of the ears.
6. Glue on the pom poms as the tail. Then sticker on the felt letters for the name. That’s it!
There are tons of variations of this that you could obviously find on Pinterest. One was gluing on a bunch of cotton balls to make fur. There was also another variation of instead cutting out the whole top, you just cut out a mouth to put the eggs in.
This is what we settled on that took the least time.
