With the change from spring to summer, I decided to update my dresser-turned-buffet decor to bring in a tiny summertime vibe!

For some odd reason, I had this extra burst of energy on a week night. It wasn’t enough energy to sustain a big project, but what I did manage to do was an easy decal treatment to my drawers.

If you recall a few months ago, we hacked off our old dresser to make it into a buffet in this post here. I decided not to paint the inside of the dresser because it would require WAY more work than I was able to invest in at the time. I’m glad I didn’t because I love the way that this turned out!

Here is what the drawers looked like previously:

Here’s what they look like now. You won’t believe how easy it was using wall decals! I’ve seen lots of tutorials where others have used contact paper and cheap wallpaper. However, I used removable wall decals from Walls Need Love because they were very durable, removable and had beautiful options to choose from!

It is definitely a personal preference to whether to line the drawers. For me personally, I love lining the drawers because it gives a fun surprise when you open them!

Below are directions on how to achieve your own look!

Directions for DIY Lining the Side of Your Drawers

First, measure the width and length of the side of your drawers. Note that if you have sliders on your drawers, this project may prove to be a little trickier.

I used a quilter’s ruler to measure the width and height of the drawers so I could see through the ruler for the exact measurement.

Next, I marked in pencil the cutout of the removable wall decal into the size I needed.

Using the knife and the quilter’s ruler, I cut out the piece.

After wiping down the drawer with a moist towel, I carefully peeled off the backing. I positioned it slightly wrong, but the wall decal was forgiving and it was removable! This made the project so much easier without having to restart because I made a wrong move.

From my Walls Need Love package, I had enough wall decal to also line the inside of the drawers.
