Its no secret that my husband is an avid hunter. So, it should be no suprise that he wants to mount his deer heads somewhere in our home. I'm not much for dead things staring at me in the face every day. It creeps me out. Especially, when I'm getting a glass of water in the middle of the night and look up....and see something staring back at me *shiver*.
But, I concede that its his house just as much as it is my house. He's painted the entire interior of the house with little help from me (only because he doesn't like my painting skills). I mean, look at these MacGyver moves. He created a ledge to between two ladders to paint our two story foyer. Alas, I do owe him at least ONE wall for his mounts.
I searched high and low for ways to decorate around my "rustic luxe" theme. I didn't want the mounts to look like a wall at Cabelas and Bass Pro. Slowly, I've been curating ideas on my Pinterest board to decorate AROUND deer mounts. I wanted decorating ideas that made the antlers and heads seem a little more palpable. So far, this is all we got. Of course, Ryan has told me that there is an additional mount on its way to us as well as two antler mounts that he plans on hanging on this same wall, yey! *sarcasm*
So far, I've been able to fend off any additional "Ryan" decor. When I showed him my Pinterest board and pointed out the one with the floral decor, he made a face.
Just wait until I decorate this deer during Christmas this year. Muahhahhh.
I just wanted to show you what we are starting with - and while it may take a little bit - I'm going to make our foyer look awesome and maybe, just maybe, you won't notice the deer. Maybe.
Keep following my Pinterest board for antler decor ideas for hints on what my plans are!
