We are slowly making headway in moving towards some other areas of our home! This spring, Ryan has already finished painting our mudroom laundry room. I love having a mudroom and laundry room combine because it makes coordinating clothes and shoes that much easier.

While the room is not 100% complete, I wanted to share with you a sneak peek of one of the walls thus far.

This is the room coming from our great room that leads into our garage (the door that you see in the image below).

I found the white shelf at Hobby Lobby. I haven’t put up the pictures in the frames yet – I’m waiting for baby to arrive before I do! I also found the tobacco basket there as well.

Since it is a room the is leading to the garage, I thought it would kind of fun to have a map of our city in the room. Since Ryan and I are both Kansas City Natives, this print from Modern Map Art is perfect for the space.

Ryan made a custom frame for our Kansas City Modern Map Art frame. I wanted a distressed wood frame for the space.

If you look closer at the frame, you can see how the frame appears to be weathered and stained.

The hubs used some inexpensive wood pine, used a hacksaw blade on the frame to weather and distress the frame, and followed that with some staining.

I love how it turned out! Instead of an empty space in that area, I now have a custom frame with our city that we love decorated in the space!

This wall is not exactly finished yet. We’re still looking for the perfect console to go underneath the hanging unit to store the kids’ shoes. Ryan was supposed to be making me one for my birthday, but I think that project got pushed back a few years!

Specifically , we’re looking for a vintage post office mail sorter or a wooden chicken nester that’s in fairly good condition – apparently, those are hard to come by these days.

How do you decorate your mudroom/laundry room? Check out Modern Map Art for some prints for your own space.
