Summertime Pool Essentials

This summer, I am looking forward to taking the kids to their second year of swim lessons! The kids are super excited about it.

Can I tell you a little secret? I can’t swim. While my summer day camp took me to the pool, I never actually learned how to swim or took official swim lessons. I only waded in the water.

That’s why I’m a huge advocate on starting my kids early on getting familiar around water and getting swim lessons in early!

Getting myself and the kids ready for swim lessons will definitely be a big undertaking. The bigger factor will be also getting the kids back into the car after swim lessons. Imagine drying off three kids, detangling their hair, avoiding getting the van soaked. What I didn’t include in there was taking care of MYSELF in all of that. As a mom of four now, I’m needing all the time savings I can get ANYTIME I can get it. This means making sure that I’m prepared before swim lessons and after swim lessons. This also means that I need to have some things to take care of myself as well!

Remember my post about time savings during my office workout routine? I’m including Jergens® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil 10 oz. in my essentials kit as well – to take care of ME! Growing up, I remember pool water (with the chlorine) being pretty harsh on my skin because it would dry it out.

After using Jergens® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil 10 oz. during my workouts, I’ve found that my skin is more moisturized without having to spend additional time to do so. I am including this into our swimming outings as a routine item to bring a long – allowing me to save time and take care of moisturizing my skin. I picked up the exclusive scent at Walmart called Cherry Almond Essence because it smells absolutely wonderful! This product is NOT a sunscreen and you will definitely need sunscreen at the pool, which I’ve also included in this list/box! You can use it after you come back in from the pool and in the shower.

I’ve rounded up some of my favorite summertime pool essentials to haul with me to swim lessons and pool outings.

  • Fun splash toys
  • Swim goggles
  • Beach towels
  • Bubbles
  • Water bottle
  • Beach ball
  • Jergens® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer
  • Detangling brush
  • Sunblock lotion and/or spray
