For my first baby shower, I registered for the Chicco Cortina Travel System:
While I LOVED the Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat & Base that came with it, the stroller wasn't used as often because it took up too much room in my SUV. My other option was buy a stroller specifically to hold my Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat, which would mean that when baby grew older, I would need a stroller. As a new mom, those are the two things you would need to consider: is the flexibility, weight, room more important to you for the first year OR is it the money savings of not having to buy another stroller that's more important? My two cents: You can't go wrong with either. If you buy one, and it doesn't work out, these Chicco strollers hold their value really well (e.g. you could Craiglist it and get someone to buy it from you typically 75% of the retail price).
In my own circumstance, with this new baby, I've since purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 Caddy Stroller. With the girls grown and walking, we've already invested in a double stroller that we love (review coming soon). During my past maternity leaves, I had a bad case of cabin fever. With my experience with the girls, I knew that this Chicco Keyfit 30 Caddy Stroller

Here it is folded up. The handles can also fold down. You can see the size of it based on how short my little 2.5 year old is! This means more room for grocery bags.
