Getting the Right Vinyl for Making Labels
Don't make the same mistake I did. I purchased bulk vinyl thinking I'd have a weekend to work on labels. I purchased the WRONG vinyl because the pens and markers were used on permanent non-writable vinyl that made my labels smear. You should be sure to NOT confuse these two vinyls below.
Cricut vinyl comes in a variety of flavors: heat transfer, permanent vinyl, removable vinyl, and permanent writable vinyl.
Here are some options for writable vinyl that I've collected that include Cricut brand and off-brand versions (often advertised as matte vinyl) that will allow you to use markers and pens with your crafting machines.
