Supplies & Materials

– bowl – medium size cheese grater – 1-cup measuring cup – 1/3 measuring cup you can part with as a scooper – storage container for the detergent – 1 bar of Fels Naptha bar soap – box of borax – box of washing soda

Step 1

Use the bowl and grater to grind Fels Naptha soap. This is the trickiest element of the recipe. Though it just takes ten minutes, it feels like forever.

Step 2

Put 1 cup washing soda and 1 cup Borax in the bowl.

Step 3

Combine the ingredients in the bowl and stir thoroughly. Break apart large pieces.

Step 4

Finish by pouring the mixture into your storage container and using a 1/3 measuring cup as a scooper 🙂 All done!
