Ryan and I try to grow things from seed whenever possible. Possibly, one of the main reasons is to feed Ryan’s ego (kidding). It truly is kind of “more” fulfilling to say you grew something from seed versus having a starter plant. Someone once told me that if you could grow celery from seed, you were a master at gardening. We tried it four years ago, and failed miserably. We’ll stick to growing tomatoes.
However, when we DO need that extra help or are too lazy to grow something from seed – we go to Heartland Nursery. This is by far my favorite nursery because it is HUGE. And the staff is uber helpful.
For example, this month we visited Heartland at least two times a week. Ed helped us visualize our front yard landscaping. And he was very patient when I described to him the look that I was going for (which probably didn’t make any sense). If you need ideas and help with bushes or trees, go seek out Ed. He is awesome!
Heartland is amazing. Here’s a view when you get inside….pretty flowers everywhere!
Near the back of the store, it opens up to where the bushes and trees are. They have a ton of variety and amazing plants!
They have beautiful flowering trees! I love going mid-April when all of the trees are blooming!
This is on my want list: a magnolia tree! The price tag does make my stomach turn.
They also have tucked away in random areas awesome little figurines to meet a variety of different tastes as well as to keep you kids entertained:
Proof: Ansley loved picking at this dog’s nose and telling me about it:
The girls loved roaming around the trees and frustrating the crap out of Ryan:
He finally gave Aubrey something to carry (onion sets for our garden) so that he could pick out some plants for the yard:
If you are looking for a nursery, this is one that you should definitely stop at 🙂
