Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope everyone is having a great one!
I’ll be honest, I have not done a lot of DIY Projects lately. As a mother of one, there is just not enough time in the day. But you know what? I am still grateful that I have a beautiful baby girl to keep me busy 24/7, a needy (but loving) hubby, and happy home.
Can you believe that I am a mother of a 6 month old? That is INSANE to me. Time has flown by SO FAST. She started sleeping in her own crib 3 WEEKS ago. Before that, she was co-sleeping with hubby and I. Some people think that’s bad. Some people are okay with it. I did my own research – and there were pros/cons on both ends. I think as long as you and your partner agree on either of the philosophies – I think its okay. Our baby just didn’t like her bassinet. So she either slept between us – or in her swing. Yes, her swing.
When we went to the doctor at her 2 month visit, the doctor told us Ansley was too young to cry it out. Then, at her 4 month visit, doctor told us that we need to let her cry it out because she’s playing us now. What I don’t get is how TWO MONTHS can be that much of a difference in a baby’s mindset. I just hated seeing her cry (like any normal parent) and loved to pick her up to soothe her crying.
Then…she was staying awake more at night…and so were we. And we had to work the next day….so something had to change.
Three weeks ago, hubby and I decided to just put her in her room – and let her cry it out. She was five months old. The first night, she cried 3 hours straight – then fell asleep. We had the baby monitor on…yes it was tough (I would suggest doing this on a Friday). The second day, she cried for an hour straight – then fell asleep. The third day, she whined for ten minutes – then fell asleep.
Today – three weeks later, she whines for about five minutes after putting her in her crib – and falls asleep. She has a routine now. 7:30 is bed time. I read her “Goodnight Moon”. Then ten minutes of whining.
Hubby and I have our time together now. I might implement this sooner if we have another child. 🙂
I’d like to share this pic . . . it makes me laugh everytime I see it. Here’s a caption I made for it. “Eww…did someone fart?”
