I've been looking to update the old, builder grade fans in our home to match our farmhouse decor. While we're lucky to have fans in most of the rooms in our home to increase air circulation, most of them are pretty hideous.

One of those items is a new modern farmhouse ceiling fan for my bedroom, main living room, and my little boy's rustic style bedroom. The first room we've been trying to update was the fan and lighting for our modern farmhouse family room.

Throughout the years, ceiling fans have had a track record of being better than they were in previous years and are now more gorgeous than ever. I can't even say that they would ever go out of style because my husband needs them on at night for air circulation!
Before I do that, I want you to know what I classify as an affordable modern farmhouse ceiling fan. If I can find a beautiful and functional modern farmhouse ceiling fan for under $300, I consider that affordable. While it is a lot of money to be spending on a fan for every room, I know that if my hubby installs it for us, it will save money from the electrician having to install it!

In general, ceiling fans should be mounted or installed at 8 feet from the floor to allow the best amount of airflow, have at least 10 inches of air space between the blades, and at least 18 inches from the walls.
Can a ceiling fan be flush mounted?
Yes, there are brands that definitely make flush mounted ceiling fans that are designed to move the same amoutn of air with a down road can move!
