Hallmark’s Kaleidoscope Review and Tour

Explore Kansas City· Vacation Ideas

If you are in Kansas City with kids, check out Hallmark Kaleidoscope as a fun way to get your kids creative juices flowing with a free visit to this amazing art studio!

Last year, I created a Top 10 Cheap Thrills in Kansas City for Toddlers. One of the places I mentioned on the list was Hallmark’s Kaleidoscope – but a few short sentences on the place doesn’t do it justice. So here it is with words and images!

First off, did I mention it is free?? The amazing folks at Hallmark allows families 40 minute sessions to have fun creating with basically awesome scraps from their card making manufacturing. Click here for deets on times and schedules for visitor information.

Here’s what it looks like from the outside. We visited in March, and my girls remembered going the previous year. They couldn’t even sit still for a photo because they were so excited.

After grabbing our tickets and waiting in line, the first thing you’ll want to do is grab a bag to hold all the art. You might miss the bags that are right in front of you because you may be too excited to get started. If you have multiple kids, write their names on it – or else I will warn you that there will be a fight when you get home for the art goodies!

One of the first areas we always go to is the dark room. There is melted crayon and a bunch of wall games with I think lasers. Coolest room ever.

Here is a shot of what some of the art tables look like. There is one table that ALWAYS has tons of stickers. Make sure you visit that table 🙂

The room is filled with amazing, colorful murals and art. Here are my girls posing for me:

There are chairs big enough for adults and kids alike.

Below is the image of the heat lamp machine thingy. Basically, there’s a room for water color. Once your artist is finished, they can place it in this machine and wait for it like you see Aubrey doing. It takes a while, so you might as well create another piece of art while you are waiting.

You can also make puzzles!! You draw on a square cardboard, and they have a cutting machine that will cut out the puzzle for you!

I had to take a picture of this…the bathrooms themselves do not have a sink. Once you come out of the bathroom, there is a fountain that you press with your feet and the water comes out. Cool huh?
