I decided to create a blog separate from my professional photography page to satisfy my daily musings and to post photos of my new life as a mommy! Since having my baby and having 8 weeks of maternity leave – outside of tending to my precious baby – I’ve had to find some hobbies…. so I turned to facebook.
What I found was a friend who started sewing – I saw this amazing picture of her dress that she sewed for I think her niece. It was amazing!! I mean, seriously. My mother is a seamstress as her career – and I never cared to “really” learn…but my friend…she took a class, and it seemed like the next week busted out this dress 🙂 Not only does she sew, she is a mad baker. Scrumptious delicious cookies and cakes. Oh, did I mention, people ask her to do cakes for weddings? Yeah – she’s awesome.
So…in an effort to be more of a homemaker like her (that and the outrageous prices of baby stuff)…I decided to make stuff too. So, here and there, I’ll post my DIY stuff, directions and links to how I did it. My hubby is a DIYer to…so I’ll post stuff from him as well. (For example, two years ago – he constructed a 10 x 10 greenhouse and this year – a duck boat. Yes, a duck boat.)
My mother gave me one of her old sewing machines. When I say old, I mean really old. I think this thing came out in the ’70s. But it still works. Its the Baby Lock 6000 (it has nothing to do with babies – I promise. The fact that I have a baby and a sewing machine called the “Baby Lock 6000” is purely coincidental.) – and here’s a picture of it. Pretty sweet, eh? That polka dot thing is a home made thing that I made (which I will not be illustrating how to make) is there to hold pins for convenience sake.
I’ll also post my daily musings of being a mom to a very high maintenance but adorable and precious baby girl – Ansley. Thanks for stopping by! Visit back soon.
