The only time that you can wear a black dress is when you are a bridesmaid and that is the color scheme the bride is going for OR you are a wedding vendor so that you don’t stand out during the wedding festivities.
I’ve been meaning to find the perfect dress for the days that I second shoot weddings. (For those that don’t know what it means to second shoot, click here.) I had been wearing black tights with neutral colored tunics, which are uber comfy. When you are working 8-10 hour days, something that is breathable and comfortable is a must!
However, I’ve decided that I want to look more the part of a guest rather than an artsy photographer. I know some photographers that go to weddings in jeans – I’ve seen it myself as a guest, and they stick out like a sore thumb. Some can pull it off, but most can’t. I mean, come on. If a GUEST decided to show up at a wedding in jeans (when the invite didn’t specifically say “casual”), most people would notice. I think that statement holds true for a wedding vendor.
Anyway, off my soap box. I found the PERFECT place to buy dresses for shooting weddings. It’s at eShakti.com. The clothes are super cute and not too trendy. And they are oh-so comfy! The dress and my Tieks are an amazing combination of comfort and style as a wedding photographer.
The most awesome part about eShakti.com is that you can customize parts of the outfits!!! As I was going through the site, I found that most (if not all) the dresses or blouses could be customized. For example, I hate my arms, so I loved the fact that I could order capped sleeves on my dress. I got the Alexandria dress and customized the sleeves and the length of the skirt. So amazing.
