Two years ago, my life changed for the better and the crazier. Ansley was born. I didn't know what was in store for me. In these last two years, this kiddo has brought me so much happiness, joy, love, fun, but also frustration and crying. She taught me patience - which I never had ever; watching Adam Sandler sing "A Song About Elmo" 5000x will teach someone patience. She's brought me back wonderment and magic - the Christmas morning smiles were so worth it. She's taught me silliness - I can dance and jump inside the house and make ballet twirls and not care what the neighbors think.
Two weekends ago, I was shooting a wedding. The father of the bride gave a speech. One of his comments caught me off guard and made me smile because it was something that Ryan had said a few days earlier.
"You are my oldest child, and the oldest child always has a special place in a father's heart."

And it's not just a father's heart. Its my heart too. Can you believe that that was her two years ago? Crazy.
For her birthday this year, Ryan wanted to get her a Power Wheels. He was all set to go to Toys R Us tonight (since we procrastinated to the very last second for her gift) and pay full price for one. Being the frugal mother I am, I hit up Craigslist. Found this little gem. When I went to pick it up, when the lady opened up her garage, she had like twenty of these including a police car, fire truck, and a volkswagon Power Wheels. She fixes these things up as a hobby. She gave me the low down on everything I needed to know. And gave it to me half the price that was in the store. I heart Craigslist.
Ansley loves her new Audi. She struggled at first get the foot peddle, but once she got it (after fifty tries with Dad), she was on the move.

Here are a few memorable moments from this year:
- You are what Dad likes to call "sensitive" (aka fussy).
- You reached the terrible twos early. Enough said.
- You became a big sister. You love feeding Aubrey the bottle.
- When the Aubster touches any of your stuff, you say, "Aubby, time out." Aubrey doesn't understand time out, she's only ten months old. Duh.
- You gave Aubrey her nick name, Aubby, because you can't pronounced the R in her name.
- You got Grandma to call your sister that too.
- You'll be a flower girl in your second wedding this summer for Uncle Jay! Let's hope you don't freak out like you did at Aunt Janny's wedding.
- You sort of learned how to swim. Sort of.
- You don't have a big girl bed yet. Only because Mom and Dad don't want you running down the stairway at night and waking us up. (And the fact that I'm trying to get the last piece of your furniture so I can blog it.)
- You've become a pretty good sleeper. (Although, when compared to Aubby, you kind of pale in comparison. Just keepin' it real.)
- You hate being called baby. You call yourself a "big girl."
- When asked who your friend is at school, you say "Jaxon." Dad does not approve...at all.
- You love chocolate chip pancakes on Saturday. Your dad is on a diet these last few weeks, so he forces us to be one too. So we haven't gotten chocolate chips on our pancakes these past few Saturdays.
- You lost all your baby fat. Mommy misses it.
- You love corn on the cob. We witnessed this at Grandma's this weekend.
- You have a big overbite and a chipped front tooth. You kind of look goofy when you smile (its a smile only a momma could love).
- You prefer Mom. But if you are asked to go to time out, you prefer Dad.
- You have no patience. I admit it, you got it from me.
- You say "no" a lot. Dad won't admit it, but you are stubborn like him.
- You know how to fill in the alphabet if I sing it. But you can't sing it by yourself.
- You like PSY's new Gentlmen song. (Parent's, don't judge.)
- You love Elmo. A lot.
- You learned to potty train. Teacher said that you are one of the few kiddos in her room that is semi-potty trained. Which means less money on diapers for momma.
- You love the youtube video, "Where is the monkey?" Dad leaves the room when this is played.
Happy birthday my little sensitive big girl 🙂
