Okay, I will admit it. There are a few things in our home that I've had since college that need replacing since 2005. There is a time and a place for hand me downs. Now that I'm in my mid-thirties with kids of my own, I do truly believe that investing in quality so that they will last for years.
Here is a round up of my favorite small household & bath items I would splurge on.
Five of the BEST Home & Bath Essentials to Splurge & Invest In
Mattress. Compromising a night’s sleep over saving fifty dollars doesn’t make common sense if you take a macro look at it. Sleep is important, so be sure to splurge when it comes to a mattress!
Vacuum. I have always been a skeptic on buying a vacuum that costs over $250. However, my previous vacuum shopping methods caused me to have to replace them every year. After getting a Dyson, I will never go back. My Dyson Animal is freaking amazing and is going on 7 years. Cheap, less expensive models can emit allergens and microbes into the air in your home. For littles like mine, this is not an option.
Linens and towels. Good bath towels should, at a minimum, be able to absorb water, be resilient through hundreds of washes, and be soft to the touch.
After my hand me down towels started fading, puckering, and ripping, I finally invested in these Cariloha bamboo towels that are not only luxurious, but also affordable!
The bamboo bath towel sets in white are absolutely gorgeous and fluffy!
Light Bulbs. I won't speak to the technicalities of which light bulbs to buy, but changing all of your lightbulbs to energy efficient bulbs not only saves energy, but it also allows all of the lights in your home to have the same consistent white balance if you change them all at the same time.
Sofa. You and your family will probably spend a lot of time on your sofa in the home! You can read all about our sofa here.
As a college kid, I would have never invested in these items. Now that I have settled down into a family routine, these are all splurges I'm glad I made in the long run!
